Political momentum is building in Akwa Ibom State as Engineer Bobby Onofiok has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing the Oron/Udung Uko/Mbo/Okobo/Urue-Offong/Oruko Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.

His declaration has already stirred conversations across the Oro Nation and beyond, signaling what many observers describe as a renewed push for grassroots-driven and development-focused representation in the constituency.

In his first public remarks following the declaration, Engr. Onofiok began by expressing deep concern over the reported abduction of Oron students who had traveled to sit for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.

He called on security agencies at both state and federal levels to intensify efforts toward the immediate rescue of the affected students and ensure their safe return to their families.

“This is a painful and deeply troubling development for our people. These young students went in pursuit of education and a brighter future, and it is heartbreaking that such a tragedy has occurred. I call on all relevant security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to secure their release,” he said.

He stressed that the safety of citizens, particularly young people seeking educational opportunities, must remain a top priority for government and security institutions.

Turning to his political ambition, Engr. Onofiok said his decision to seek office is driven by a strong desire to provide purposeful leadership, attract meaningful development, and ensure that the voices of the people of Oron Federal Constituency are effectively represented at the national level.

According to him, the constituency deserves leadership rooted in service, accountability, and measurable results.

“Our people deserve quality representation that prioritizes development, youth empowerment, education, infrastructure, and economic opportunities. I am stepping forward because I believe our constituency can achieve more through visionary and people-centered leadership,” he stated.

Engr. Onofiok further emphasized his commitment to inclusive governance, noting that every local government area within the federal constituency must feel the impact of effective representation.

He pledged to work closely with traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders, women, and youths in building a stronger and more prosperous future for the region.

Residents and supporters across Oron, Udung Uko, Mbo, Okobo, and Urue-Offong/Oruko have continued to express optimism over his declaration, describing him as a seasoned professional with the capacity to deliver.

Political analysts say his entrance into the race adds a significant dimension to the 2027 contest, given his professional background, community engagement, and growing support base.

As the political landscape gradually takes shape ahead of the elections, Engr. Bobby Onofiok’s declaration is expected to reshape conversations within the constituency and set the stage for what promises to be a keenly contested race.

With the 2027 general elections on the horizon, constituents will be watching closely as aspirants unveil their visions for the future of the federal constituency.
