A court has adjourned the bail hearing in the alleged corruption case involving former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to March 31, 2026.

The adjournment followed proceedings held on Tuesday, during which both the prosecution and defence teams presented their arguments before the court.

Counsel to the prosecution urged the court to deny bail, citing the seriousness of the allegations and the need to ensure that the defendant is available for trial. The prosecution also raised concerns about the possibility of interference with witnesses.

In response, defence counsel argued that the charges against the former governor are bailable and maintained that their client poses no flight risk. The defence further appealed to the court to grant bail on liberal terms, emphasizing El-Rufai’s standing and willingness to comply with any conditions set by the court.

After listening to submissions from both sides, the presiding judge adjourned the matter to March 31, 2026, for ruling on the bail application.

The case has drawn significant public attention, with observers closely monitoring developments as legal proceedings continue.
