The Executive Chairman of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. (Amb.) Chief Uno Etim Uno, JP, on Wednesday commissioned a newly upgraded solar-powered water supply system in Ubodung Community. The project, undertaken by the Deaconess Sarah Joseph Inwang Foundation, represents a significant stride toward sustainable development and improved access to clean, reliable water in the area.
Formerly powered by diesel, the facility has now been transitioned to solar energy in line with global climate action objectives and the push for environmentally friendly infrastructure.
Speaking at the event, Chief Uno expressed deep appreciation to the Foundation’s Chairman, Dr. Etim Inwang, for his consistent humanitarian initiatives, community service, and dedication to enhancing living standards in Ubodung. He praised the Foundation not only for providing potable water but also for its broader corporate social responsibility projects that continue to impact the community positively.
As a show of support for the Foundation’s ongoing efforts, the Executive Chairman made a personal donation of ₦1,000,000. He also directed Ubodung community leaders to identify one priority development project for inclusion in the 2026 Local Government budget.
Chief Uno was accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Arit Ambit, JP; Council Secretary, Mr. Amana Henshaw; Deputy Leader of Council, Hon. Mercy Dan; APC Chapter Chairman, Hon. Henry Henry; and other senior government officials.
