The Oron Union Central Executive, headed by the President General, Sir Essang Nsa Bassey, KJW, has acknowledged and praised the remarkable achievements of Hon. Engr. George Henshaw, Transition Chairman of Okobo Local Government Council. The union recognized his unwavering commitment to advancing grassroots development and his tireless efforts in meeting the needs of the community, demonstrating exceptional leadership and dedication to public service.

During a courtesy visit on June 10, 2024, the President General of Oron Union Sir Essang Nsa Bassey, KJW, also called for a robust partnership and collaboration between the local government and the union, aiming to achieve developmental goals and  commended Hon. Henshaw for his commitment to community development and his tireless efforts in addressing the needs of Okobo Local Government Area, particularly in the areas of grassroots development and local government improvement.

In his address the PG praised Hon. Henshaw for his remarkable achievements, stating, “Your leadership has brought significant progress to our community, and we are grateful for your dedication.”

In his remarks, Hon. Henshaw welcomed the call, expressed his appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to serving the community and his readiness to partnering with the union to enhance the lives of the people of Okobo Local Government Area.

The Transition Chairman, Hon. Engr. George Henshaw presented his impressive achievements during his first six months in office. 

His notable accomplishments include; Resolving the long-standing land boundary dispute between Okopedi and Amammong communities in Okobo, opening up an access road along the boundary, restoring peace to the area, Grading feeder roads in all eleven wards, Providing boreholes in Akip Obo and Ebigihi Anwa Ikpi communities, Ongoing construction of the Pastor Umo Eno Legislative Building, Supporting mothers with multiple births and individuals with disabilities. These achievements demonstrate his dedication to improving the lives of the people in Okobo Local Government Area.

In his vote of thanks, the Secretary of Oron Union, Dr. Christopher Okon, expressed profound gratitude to the Transition Chairman, Hon. Engr. George Henshaw, for his remarkable achievements and commitment to the community. Dr. Okon praised Hon. Henshaw’s dedication to grassroots development, his efforts in addressing the needs of the community, and his outstanding leadership. 

He also thanked the Chairman for his warm reception and for making the union feel at home. Dr. Okon concluded by reaffirming the union’s support for the Chairman’s development agenda and their commitment to working together for the betterment of the Okobo Local Government Area.

The Oron Union also inspected the ongoing construction of the Pastor Umo Eno Legislative Complex, a project initiated by Hon. Henshaw. The Union commended the Transition Chairman for his vision and leadership, acknowledging the project’s potential to benefit the community.

The culmination of the meeting was the official induction of Hon. Engr. George Henshaw as a patron of the Oron Union, acknowledging his dedication and commitment to the community’s welfare. “As a distinguished leader and humanitarian, Henshaw has consistently demonstrated his support for the Oron Union, making substantial contributions to the region’s growth and development, and solidifying his legacy as a champion of community progress.”

This highlights Hon. Henshaw’s tireless efforts to improve the lives of the people of Okobo LG. His dedication and leadership have made a significant impact on the community, and his contributions have not gone unnoticed.
