As Chairman Commences Operations at New Council Complex, Signaling Faster Service Delivery

ORON — The Executive Chairman of Oron Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Asukwo Enweme, on Monday resumed official duties at the newly commissioned Administrative Complex, marking a significant milestone in the Council’s drive toward improved governance, administrative efficiency, and enhanced service delivery.
The development signals the commencement of full operations from the modern facility, which was constructed to centralize administrative activities and provide a more accessible and coordinated system of governance for residents of the local government area.
The relocation, which took effect in the morning, saw the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Supervisors, Council Secretary, Chief of Staff, and key departments move from the old secretariat to the new complex.
Completed under the current administration and commissioned by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, PhD, the facility houses leadership offices and critical departments under one roof, creating a streamlined administrative structure designed to facilitate quicker decision-making and improved public service.
Hon. Enweme’s first official engagement in the new complex was a closed-door strategy session with members of the Executive Council and senior aides. Discussions centered on aligning operational workflows with the new office arrangement and strengthening engagement between the Council and the people.
Addressing Supervisors after the meeting, the Chairman described the relocation as “a transition from promise to process,” directing that all official approvals, correspondence, and constituency-related engagements be conducted from the new administrative block with immediate effect. He added that staff orientation and adaptation exercises would continue throughout the week.
Equipped with a modern boardroom, enhanced power supply, and upgraded communication and network systems, the complex is expected to eliminate the administrative fragmentation that previously slowed decision-making across multiple office locations.
Speaking on the significance of the development, the Chairman emphasized that infrastructure must ultimately translate into tangible benefits for citizens.
“This building is the tool, not the goal. The goal is faster service, clearer accountability, and more measurable progress for Oron,” he said.
With administrative operations now fully centralized, the Council enters a new phase in which improved structure is expected to drive efficiency, accountability, and accelerated service delivery across the local government area.
