     New Ahta Oro elected

    The Appex Traditional Rulers Council in Oro land, the Council of Oro Traditional Rulers, COTR, has elected a New Ahta Oro, in the person of HRM Edidem Ita Okokon, Isonsi 1 of Okobo and Paramount Ruler of Okobo Local Government Area. 

    The event took place this afternoon at Obio Ufre, the ancient shrine of Oro Nation.

    Edidem Ita Okokon hails from one of the 11 Clans of Oro Nation, which has never produced the supreme monarch of Oro Nation from inception. 

    The Ahta elect stood the election unopposed, after the Paramount Ruler of Urueoffong Oruko LGA and Chairman of the Council, HRM Offong Effiong Matthew Unanaowo and that of Mbo LGA, HRM Ogwong Okon Asukwo Abang voluntarily stepped down.
