The Akwa Ibom State Government continues to make significant progress toward the full commencement of the Ibom Deep Seaport project, working closely with prospective partners and key stakeholders.

On Wednesday, the Technical Committee on the Ibom Deep Seaport, led by its Chairperson, Barr. Mfon Ekong Usoro, conducted an inspection tour of the proposed port site alongside the project’s Master Planners, Dar Al-Handasah Consultants, and the Commissioner for Works, Prof. Eno Ibanga.

The visit focused on evaluating accessibility plans and infrastructure requirements to support the anticipated traffic and economic activities associated with the seaport.

The exercise began with a strategic session at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Works in Uyo before the delegation proceeded to Unyenge and surrounding communities for an on-the-spot assessment of ongoing developments within the project corridor.

Members of the delegation included former Secretary to the State Government and Technical Committee member, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem; Principal Consultant of Dar Al-Handasah Consultants, Mr. Rabah Ait Ali; and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Projects/Director of Projects for the Technical Committee, Engr. Prof. Akaninyene Ekong.

Also present were the Permanent Secretary and Directors of the Ministry of Works, Managing Director of Amitec Construction, Engr. Aiman Samua, as well as aides to the Governor, Dr. Essien Ndueso and Engr. Solomon Eyo.

The inspection follows a high-level technical meeting held in Paris, France, last weekend involving Governor Umo Eno, the Ibom Deep Seaport Implementation Committee, and Africa Global Logistics (AGL) Group, aimed at accelerating the project’s implementation and strengthening strategic partnerships.
