The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Ekerete Udoh, on Thursday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Matron Sabbath Okon Umoren at Ikot Ese Ishiet in ONNA Local Government Area.
Mr. Udoh, who was accompanied by his wife, was received by the Chief Mourner, Pastor Udeme Umoren, alongside other members of the bereaved family.
Speaking during the visit, the Governor’s spokesman highlighted the significant impact of the deceased’s life, noting that her lifetime was marked by dedicated service and meaningful contributions to humanity. He described her passing as a great loss not only to her immediate family but also to the entire ONNA community.
“This monumental loss resonates deeply with us and the entire ONNA people. It is in recognition of this that we have come to personally convey our heartfelt condolences and stand in solidarity with you in this moment of grief,” Udoh said.
In his response, Pastor Udeme Umoren, speaking on behalf of the family, expressed gratitude for the visit, describing it as a strong demonstration of empathy and support. He offered prayers for divine reward and appreciated the show of concern extended to the family during their time of mourning.
Also speaking, the Chairman of ONNA Local Government Area, Hon. Kufre Umoren, thanked the Governor’s aide and his wife for their compassion despite their busy schedules. He paid tribute to his late mother, describing her as a symbol of peace whose values have greatly influenced both her family and the wider community.
“Our mother embodied peace and instilled virtues that have defined who we are today. She leaves behind enduring legacies that will be passed on to future generations,” he said.
The Chairman concluded by praying for the safe return of the visitors and reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the principles and values instilled by his late mother.
