– Releases ₦60 Billion to Contractors, Tasks MDAs on Timely Project Delivery

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, signed into law the ₦695 billion supplementary budget passed by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

The signing took place during the October edition of the State Project Delivery Meeting at Government House, Uyo.

Governor Eno commended the Speaker and Members of the House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the supplementary Appropriation Bill, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and people-centered governance.

“Let me assure the people of Akwa Ibom State that all hands are on deck. We will continue to carry out our duties with probity and dedication for the benefit of all. With the signing of this supplementary budget, we are fired up to ensure full implementation of government programmes and projects,”

To fast-track project execution, the Governor announced the release of ₦60 billion to contractors with verified Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs) and directed Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as well as Delivery Advisors to ensure strict compliance with project timelines and standards.

The Project Delivery Meeting featured 12 presentations on key ongoing projects across various sectors, including:

  • Tourism Destination Marketing
  • Arise Senior Citizens Centre
  • Arise Resort and Ibom Tourism Summit
  • Renovation of Ibom Hotels & Golf Resort
  • Christmas Unplugged
  • Oron Maritime and Jetty Project
  • CNG City Bus Project
  • AKBC House
  • Ikot Ekpene International Market
  • House of Assembly Complex & Speaker’s Lodge Renovation
  • Court of Appeal Complex
  • Airport Projects (10)
  • Itam Industrial Park
  • Equipment Leasing Company
  • Ibom Model Farm
  • RAMP Project
  • Ibom International Hospital
  • General Hospitals in Ukanafun and Ibiono Ibom LGAs
  • Mother and Child Hospital
  • Aviation Village

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, lauded the Governor’s inclusive leadership and innovative governance approach, noting that the delivery review meetings enhance legislative oversight and ensure transparency in governance.

Stakeholders, including Senator Effiong Bob, also commended the Governor for sustaining the monthly delivery sessions, describing them as a hallmark of transparency and accountability.

They pledged continued support to Governor Eno’s fiscal prudence, service delivery, and accelerated development agenda, reaffirming loyalty to the “Team Akwa Ibom United” vision.

The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; Executive Assistant/Chief Delivery Advisor; Head of Service; State APC and PDP Chairmen; members of the State Executive Council, Delivery Advisors, and other top government officials.
