Urue Offong/Oruko, Akwa Ibom State – The Executive Chairman of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. (Amb.) Chief Uno Etim Uno, JP, on Tuesday welcomed members of the Nigerian Legion, Urue Offong/Oruko Chapter, at the Council Secretariat.
Comrade Edumoh Ekerendu, the newly elected Chairman of the Legion Chapter and Akwa Ibom State Vice Chairman, commended Chief Uno for his visionary leadership, people-oriented governance, and significant developmental strides in the Local Government Area. He wished the Chairman continued success in his political journey.
In response, Chief Uno expressed appreciation for the Legion’s visit and congratulated Comrade Ekerendu on his appointment. The Chairman pledged his administration’s support, including providing office accommodation for the Legion, increasing monthly stipends, empowering widows of fallen heroes, and updating administrative accounts to reflect the new leadership.
He also urged members of the Nigerian Legion to remain law-abiding and contribute to sustaining peace and unity within the Local Government Area.
In a related development, Chief Uno received the Nigerian Local Government Chairmen Merit Award Plaque in Abuja, presented by Comrade Emmanuel Esio. Dedicating the award to God and the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, the Chairman reaffirmed his commitment to delivering quality governance and impactful service to the people.
The event also marked the presentation of an appointment letter to former Council Chairman, Hon. Umana Efombruh, as Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroots Mobilization. Chief Uno congratulated him, expressing confidence in his ability to contribute to the state’s ARISE Agenda.
The Chairman was accompanied by Vice Chairman Hon. Mrs. Arit Ambit, JP; Leader of the Legislative Council Hon. Sunday Eyo; Council Secretary Mr. Amana Henshaw; Head of Service Mr. Ime Nungetuei Ita; councillors; and supervisors.
