…Present official ANPA uniform to Chief Edet Isong ahead of ANPA Week 2025
Members of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Association of Nigerian Publishers and Authors (ANPA) have paid a courtesy visit to the Publisher of Newsday Newspaper, Chief Edet Isong, at his residence in Uyo.
The delegation, led by the President General of ANPA, Pastor OsuiniAbasi Alfred, included the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee (CPC), Elder Patrick Albert, and the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Mr. Ernest Akpan.
The highlight of the visit was the formal presentation of the ANPA official uniform to Chief Edet Isong by the President General, in preparation for the forthcoming ANPA Week, scheduled to hold from Sunday, November 9 to Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Chief Isong, expressed deep appreciation for the visit and described the gesture as a mark of honour and unity within the media and literary community. He thanked the ANPA leadership for recognizing his contributions to journalism and publishing.
“Governor Umo Eno deserves commendation for the peace, infrastructure, and empowerment programmes across Akwa Ibom State. Journalists and publishers must tell these success stories,” Chief Isong stated, urging ANPA members to continue highlighting the achievements of the Arise Agenda.
In his remarks, Pastor OsuiniAbasi Alfred noted that the association holds Chief Isong in high esteem for his enduring contributions to the growth of media and literature in Akwa Ibom State.
“Chief Edet Isong is one of the pillars of our profession. We came to appreciate his efforts and to present him with the official ANPA uniform as a symbol of belonging and participation in our forthcoming ANPA Week,” Pastor Alfred said.
Also speaking, Elder Patrick Albert, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and a former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Akwa Ibom State, commended Chief Isong’s consistency and professionalism in journalism, describing him as a “guiding light” to younger journalists.
“Chief Isong’s leadership in ethical and responsible journalism continues to inspire many in the profession,” Albert remarked.
On his part, Mr. Ernest Akpan, Chairman of the ANPA Board of Trustees, praised the Newsday publisher for his steadfastness and commitment to truth in reporting.
“Chief Isong represents the values ANPA stands for — integrity, creativity, and professionalism,” Mr. Akpan affirmed.
The visit ended with group photographs and expressions of goodwill between the ANPA delegation and Chief Isong.
