Uyo, Akwa Ibom State — The political atmosphere in Akwa Ibom State is charged with renewed momentum as Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem, SAN, one of the state’s most experienced political figures and legal minds, prepares to formally join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, January 23, 2026.

The development has been described by political observers as a major realignment capable of reshaping the state’s political landscape, given Enoidem’s pedigree, influence, and decades of experience in party organization, governance, and national politics.

Confirming the development, Chief Edet Isong, a prominent party stakeholder, described Barrister Enoidem as a seasoned politician with rare depth, institutional memory, and unmatched experience.

“Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem is not a newcomer to politics. He is a seasoned politician with enormous experience, a bridge-builder, and a man who understands the soul of governance. His decision to join the APC is a major gain, not just for the party, but for Akwa Ibom State as a whole,” Chief Isong said.

A POLITICAL CAREER ROOTED IN SERVICE

Barrister Enoidem is widely regarded as one of the architects of modern party politics in Akwa Ibom State. A founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he played a central role in shaping the party’s early ideological direction and institutional structure.

His tenure as National Legal Adviser of the PDP remains one of the most impactful in the party’s history, during which he provided legal stability, strategic guidance, and firm leadership at a time when the party faced intense internal and external challenges. His calm disposition, respect for due process, and legal brilliance helped preserve unity and prevent institutional collapse during critical moments.

Beyond party politics, Enoidem’s influence extended deeply into governance. During the administration of former Governor Godswill Akpabio, he was a key strategic figure, contributing to policy formulation and the successful execution of landmark projects that continue to define modern Akwa Ibom.

Known for his preference for results over rhetoric, Enoidem built a reputation as a silent achiever—firm, principled, and deeply committed to excellence.

A POLITICIAN OF CHARACTER AND RESTRAINT

Despite facing political setbacks in the past, Enoidem consistently demonstrated rare statesmanship by placing peace above conflict and collective interest above personal ambition. His refusal to engage in destructive politics earned him respect across party lines and reinforced his image as a man of honour and discipline.

Observers say his decision to join the APC is not driven by convenience, but by conviction and alignment with the inclusive leadership philosophy of Governor Umo Eno, whose ARISE Agenda has continued to attract experienced hands across political divides.

A BOOST FOR APC, A SIGNAL FOR THE FUTURE

Chief Isong noted that Enoidem’s formal entry into the APC on January 23, 2026, would significantly strengthen the party’s structure and strategic depth ahead of future political engagements.

“This is not just a defection; it is a strategic convergence. His experience, wisdom, and calm leadership will add enormous value to the APC and to the governance of Akwa Ibom State,” he said.

Political analysts believe the move signals a new phase of political consolidation in the state—one anchored on experience, stability, and inclusive governance.

As preparations intensify for his official reception, expectations remain high that Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem’s entry into the APC will mark a turning point in Akwa Ibom’s political narrative.
