Osogbo, Osun State — Governor Adeleke has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and thrown his weight behind the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of next year’s governorship election.
The governor, speaking on Tuesday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo and confirming via his social-media account, said he had actually joined the Accord Party on 6 November 2025, after “weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders.”
He explained the motivation behind the shift: the Accord Party — described locally as the “Thumb-Up” party — aligns with his administration’s commitment to citizens’ and workers’ welfare. He asserted his ambition to seek re-election on the new platform, hoping to continue delivering what he called “good governance and democratic dividends”.
Addressing supporters and party leaders, Adeleke declared:
“From Osun West to Osun East to Osun Central, this is our party, our new platform for victory come August next year.”
He urged unity among party members and residents across the state, promising an inclusive leadership that reflects the interests of all groups.
