Uyo, Akwa Ibom State — The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meetings held simultaneously last Saturday across all 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State have been widely described as a major step in strengthening internal cohesion and deepening the party’s grassroots structures.
A respected party elder, Chief Edet Isong (Okete Okete Oro), commended the initiative, noting that the meetings created an important platform for members at the ward and LGA levels to reconnect, interact, share ideas, and reaffirm their commitment to the party.
He said the large and enthusiastic turnout across the state reflects renewed confidence in the APC’s organisational direction and a growing desire among members to consolidate unity ahead of future political engagements.
“The turnout was very impressive, and the meetings allowed our people to know themselves better at the ward and LGA levels. I believe this should become a quarterly APC family meeting across the state,” Chief Isong stated.
He emphasized the importance of continuous political education, especially for elderly party members, noting that regular interaction will ensure they remain familiar with the APC logo, message, and identity.
Chief Isong further highlighted the role of leadership by example, pointing out that the Governor and Deputy Governor demonstrated exemplary commitment by attending the meetings in their respective local government areas. Their direct participation, he said, reaffirmed the importance of grassroots politics and boosted confidence among party members.
“Governor Umo Eno’s reconciliatory posture has encouraged unity across divides. With the Governor and Deputy Governor participating in their LGAs, the relevance of ward and local government politics was clearly underscored. It shows that this approach is truly paying off,” he said.
The meetings, which brought together ward executives, youth groups, women leaders, elders, and senior stakeholders, have been widely acknowledged as a step forward in repositioning the APC for stronger performance and improved internal harmony.
