CELEBRATING 23 YEARS OF JOURNALISTIC SERVICE AND COMMUNITY IMPACT

Twenty-three years ago, a visionary businessman and politician, Chief Edet Isong, conceived the idea of establishing a community-focused newspaper in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. That idea gave birth to Newsday Newspaper — a platform created to amplify grassroots voices, promote civic engagement, and uphold journalistic integrity.

Fourteen years ago, the operations headquarters of the newspaper was relocated to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, marking a significant step toward national relevance. The move attracted a crop of seasoned journalists who helped shape the identity and editorial strength of the publication.

Among the pioneer staff who contributed immensely to the early days of Newsday are:
Ernest Akpan, James Akpaso, Eteobong Akpan, Dominic Akpan, Ephraim Akpan, late Glory Ekong, Amos Etuk, Mrs. Mmayen Ndehedehe,  Osuini Abasi Alfred, Victor Ukpong,Ndifreke Bassey and others.

We also proudly acknowledge the support and contributions of the following professionals who became part of the Newsday family over the years:
(Late) Emma Johnson, Cyril Mbah, Joseph Inokotong, Builder Idahosa, Shuiabu Usman, Abdulmumin Suleiman, Samuel Umoh, Mrs. Edomaowo Udeme, Yinka Alege, Mrs. Ufuma, Abba Collins, Anayo, Ubong Ekong, and many others whose efforts remain deeply appreciated.

Notably, His Excellency, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor of Abia State, contributed significantly to our editorial content through his regular column, The Kalu Leadership Series.

As we mark this remarkable milestone, the management and staff of Newsday Newspaper extend profound gratitude to all our supporters—partners, advertisers, contributors, and readers—whose trust and encouragement have sustained us through the years.

To all who contributed to our journey, whether mentioned here or not, we say:
Thank you. May the Almighty God reward you abundantly.

Congratulations to the entire Newsday family! Here’s to greater years ahead.
