Well Being Foundation says immunization is a preventive measure against TB

The Well being Foundation Africa has harped on the  need to  view immunization as preventive measures  against  Tuberculosis.

The Team leader, Dr Adewale Otun made this known  at the enlightening

visit to the Divine Jubilation College of Health Technology, Nasarawa as a way of commemorating the world TB day.

According to Dr Adewale, TB is the world deadliest infectious killer disease.

“Globally, it is the greatest cause of death of people with HIV/AIDs, Nigeria is the first in Africa, and 5th in the world most affected countries with TB.”

Speaking on the risk factor of TB. the Team leader, identified that persons with weak immune system are at greater risk of having the disease.

“They should not take chances but rather get medical attention as frequent as possible, as negligence on their part could bring about the contamination of disease as the immune system is weak to fight against it.”

However, Dr Otun Also affirmed that the TB disease is preventable through immunization with VGC vaccine and curable if reported and treated in time at the Medical centres available.

Meanwhile one of the students of   the college Mrs Cynthia, spoke on the dangers of Lassa fever especially in pregnant women.

On her part” she said that pregnant women are at most risk of the Lassa fever disease as they can easily have spontaneous abortion while being effected. Maintenance of good personal hygiene as well as promotion of good community hygiene can help free everyone from the endemic disease in the long run.”

The college provost Dr Ogedengbe Babatunde, while expressing his pleasure and appreciation on the  opening ceremony said the institution  is  well equipped, and  as health personnel ready  to save the bigger world.
