TRANSPORT COMMISSIONER FROWNS AT REVENUE AGENTS FOR FLOUTING GOVERNMENT DIRECTIVES

… Releases impounded vehicles at Itam Central Motor Park

The Commissioner for Transport and Solid Minerals, Akwa Ibom State, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Uno Etim Uno  has frowned at the illegal activities of one of the agents of the Ministry on Emblems/Stickers for flouting the Government order and operational guideline.
The Government has directed that considering the effect of COVID19 pandemic lockdown, no enforcement team should be out and impound any vehicle for the period of one month with effect from 1st to 31st of May, 2020.
The agents who were doing illegal duties fled and scampered for safety through the fence of the Motor Park, on sighting the entourage of the Commissioner, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Uno Etim Uno who were on fact findings.
Arriving Itam Central Motor park, on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th May, 2020 to confirm alleged information that several vehicles were impounded by Prince Victor Eddie and his boys who used brute-violence, force and intimidation, to defraud motorists and companies’ whose vehicles were impounded, the Commissioner expressed displeasure over the unfortunate incident.
Chief Uno said the Ministry was highly disappointed by the action of the agents, describing it as a complete disregard to the directive of government which all the agents working for the Ministry should strictly adhere to without any compromise.
In order to oblique to the outcry of the members of the public mostly the motorists and restore sanity,  the Ministry of Transport and Solid Minerals’ boss in the State, Chief Uno Etim Uno, therefore released the impounded vehicles to the owners who were exposed to all manners of molestation and pitiable ordeals before arrival of the Government Minitoring Team led by the Commissioner in companied of the permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Otuekong Nse Edem.
The transport halseman said he was mandated by Governor Udom Emmanuel to regulate and coordinate the sector in a peaceful manner to engender absolute tranquillity without any form of rancour.
