In a major shake-up of Nigeria’s military leadership, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced changes in the hierarchy of the country’s Service Chiefs, aimed at strengthening the national security architecture.

According to a statement from the Presidency, General Olufemi Oluyede has been appointed as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa. Major-General W. Shaibu assumes the role of Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke takes over as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas is appointed Chief of Naval Staff. Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

President Tinubu, who serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expressed his profound appreciation to the outgoing service chiefs for their dedicated leadership and patriotic service.

The President urged the newly appointed chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by further enhancing the professionalism, vigilance, and camaraderie that define the Nigerian Armed Forces.

    The appointments are effective immediately.
