…Reels out Governor’s Development Strides
In a reaffirmation of support, the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi has hailed Governor Umo Eno (PhD) as a tremendous blessing for both the State and Oro nation.
She made the remark on Saturday during a gathering of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders from Oron Local Government Area in her country home.
Senator Eyakenyi highlighted Pastor Umo Eno’s exemplary governance and compassionate leadership, noting that President Bola Tinubu has recognised him among Nigeria’s leading Governors.
“Gov. Eno embodies compassion, unity, and love, aligning with his campaign promise to unify Akwa Ibom. He consistently stated that upon taking office, our State would stand united, and I am here under his mandate,” she affirmed.
Senator Eyakenyi elaborated on the blending of political families in Akwa Ibom State, mentioning how the once-distinct APC and PDP have now formed a united front.
She noted that every local government area in the State, including Oron, has received significant developmental projects such as the ARISE Model Schools and various health centres, in addition to ongoing infrastructure projects like the Oron Beach/Jetty development and ferries..
The Deputy Governor encouraged all members of the APC to participate in the revalidation exercise announced by the Governor as slated to commence on Monday, August 4, 2025.
“All followers of Gov. Umo Eno should be registered. Party officials must remain diligent, reporting accurate information as it will directly impact future empowerment opportunities,” she warned.
Urging former PDP members in Oron to wholeheartedly adopt the APC ethos, she stated that members should wear their Party pride openly and confidently.
Describing the APC in Oron Local Government as a harmonious family, Eyakenyi called for an end to bitterness and urged members to resolve conflicts amicably for the party’s continued unity and progress.
“When we were united in the past, we shared our successes. Let’s maintain that spirit—share opportunities, practice patience, and avoid spreading negativity,” she advised.
The Deputy Governor also expressed confidence in the upcoming re-election of both Governor Eno and President Tinubu in 2027 and emphasised the importance of unity among party members.
Earlier in his tone setting speech, the Member Representing Oron/Mbo/Okobo/Udung Uko/Urue Offong/Oruko Federal Constituency, Hon. Martins Esin stressed that politics is often rooted in local engagement.
Calling the meeting “Oron United,” Esin reaffirmed Eyakenyi as an exemplary political leader, encouraging continuous unity within the political class of the area while emphasising respect for leadership.
The meeting also featured a brief goodwill message by the Executive Chairman, Oron Local Government Council, Hon. Okon Asukwo Enweme and the presentation of the Deputy Governor as the political leader of the area by the APC Chapter.
