NPHCDA mounts preventive response to Vaccine Preventable disease.

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) said it has successfully mounted the necessary reactive and preventive responses to the devastating scourge of vaccine preventable disease outbreaks across different parts of the country.

The executive director/ CEO of NPHCDA Dr. Faisal Shuaib stated this at the 3rd annual NPHCDA service/ productivity awards and send forth ceremony in Abuja. 

Dr. Shuaib said, this was achieved as a result of the collaboration between NPHCDA and its donor agencies, development partners and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Shuaib, in a remark at the 2019 Service/Productivity Awards and Send Forth Ceremony, organized by the Agency, explained that with the responses, they have mounted, more children are being protected from diseases and death, and have a better chance for a healthier childhood.

He said household are also being protected from unnecessary health expenditure and can live more productive lives.

According to Dr. Shuaib, NPHCDA will be galvanizing all stakeholders towards the development of a compelling 10 years investment case and development roadmap for PHC system strengthening and Universal Health Coverage for all Nigeria by 2030.

 “It is heart-warming to note that, we have gone over three years and still counting, without a single case of Wild Polio Virus (WPV) and the journey to certification has become more reassuring.”

The Executive Director further reiterated his commitment to rebranding NPHCDA, while also grooming competent, hardworking, transparent, creative, effective and dynamic civil servants for the Agency.

“The relationship with our partners and donors has improved tremendously and we will continue to count on their support and guardian. The progress we made this year, was possible because they struggled with us, planned with us and implement programmes with us and stood with us in difficult time and situations, we are most sincerely grateful.” 

“Working with our partners, we have begun to push the needle of immunization coverage in the right direction and have expanded our support beyond only the 18 priorities states by now.”

“We have kept our promise in the face of the agency, provide the required working tools and conducive for staff at the headquarters and across the zones and states and we are not done yet, as we are working towards automating the procurement, financial management and administrative processes and the cutting down excessive bureaucrat bottleneck, to reduce inefficiency and potential loopholes in the system.” 

Shuaib said, the event which is the 3rd in the series, during which performance Award has been giving, is a testimony of the fact that such brilliant personnel, future leaders in their own right, has been emerged in the agency. 

  The Highlight of the event was the presentation of award to outstanding staff of the agency.
