The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) said there is a need to drive the implementation of targeted programs and initiatives that will foster the development, growth and protection of Nigeria’s tech and innovation ecosystem.
The Director-General of NITDA, Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi stated this at
the opening ceremony of the workshop on Building Lean and Agile Products with DevOps, organized by the Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation (ONDI), which is a subsidiary of NITDA in collaboration with Lotus Beta Analytics Nigeria Limited.
The DG who was represented by Engineer Saliu kaka added that the sudden increase in demand for software and online web-based applications among businesses as necessitated by the COVID-19 outbreak has had a positive impact on the growth of the DevOps market.
“This has led to the growing need of DevOps solution among businesses to streamline the process of software application development by promoting collaboration between various entities of software development life cycle”.
He reiterated that the workshop is aimed at supporting vibrant and innovative startups to build capacities to scale their businesses through modernization of legacy solutions, migration of on-premises business solutions to the cloud, development of cloud applications and driving exponential revenue growth.
“This will no doubt contribute towards achieving our goal of creating more Innovation Driven Enterprises (IDEs) in line with the objectives of Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship Pillar; one of the pillars in the NITDA’s Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP) 2021-2024”
The Microsoft Country Manager Mrs Ola Williams said her outfit has been collaborating with other IT companies in terms of an ecosystem.
“We are ready to provide solutions in terms of cloud management that will be able to sustain more organizations in years to come.
We will ensure that every startup has access to technical resources.”
