NIPOST set to produce commemorative stamp with Bangladesh

The Nigeria Postal Service said the agency is set to improve bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Nigeria by producing a commemorative stamp.

The Postmaster General of the Federation, Dr Ismail Adebayo Adewusi made the disclosure when the High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh paid a courtesy visit to NIPOST corporate Headquarters in Abuja.

He noted that there is a need to foster bilateral relations between both countries by producing a commemorative stamp in honour of Bangladesh founding father whose name is Bangabandhu Sheikh Majibur Rahma.

The Poster Master General said the postal agency is willing to partner with Bangladesh by giving the project its necessary support.

“Through the partnership, we are projecting the image of our country in a positive light to the world at large. We hope that the commemorative stamp will foster mutual relations between the two countries.”

Speaking at the event, Mr. Shameen Ashan, the High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, expressed satisfaction for the opportunity to work on the commemorative stamp 

He further expressed his willingness to ensure that the commemorative stamp smoothens the bilateral relationship between the two countries. 

According to the High Commissioner, Bangladesh and Nigeria share a similarity in its high population status.

“The two countries have a  high love for football and sports, which is inherent in the citizen. The country’s economy grew by 7.86 % last year, and is still growing by 8.15%, which is the highest in the world,

Speaking about the positive aspect of Bangladesh, he said the country is ahead of other nations in South Asia in terms of access to potable water, sanitation, and a drastic reduction in mortality rates.

The country is 100% malaria and polio-free which is a remarkable achievement in her history.
