The Nigerian Postal Services NIPOST has put in place strategic plan to provide financial inclusion services as part of Nigeria’s digital transformation plan.
NIPOST signed a Collaboration with eGate and Visa Today in Abuja, the agreement was signed by Dr Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, Postmaster General/CEO NIPOST, Essam El-Sagheer CEO of eGate; and Alex McCrea, Vice President, Global Digital Partnership, Visa. VP
According to the Postmaster General, the agreement was signed in order to facilitate this especially in the aspect of digital financial services, issuing of payment cards and support financial inclusion.
He said ”Today we take this plan forward by signing with eGate, one of the leaders on digital transformation and our consultant who leads our digital transformation plan and Visa, the world leader in digital payments”.
Meanwhile El-Sagheer said, “since eGate have became one of the digital transformation leader’s in Africa, The agreement will enable NIPOST to provide digital financial services using Visa credit and prepaid cards to unbanked customer to support financial inclusion , government eService’s and no-cash society’s, to expanding the acceptance of electronic payments where Visa will provide cards payments solutions for the success of this new form of technological cooperation to meet the ambitions and requirements of the citizens of Nigeria.”
