NIPOST, Salem Quest, signs MOU to reposition postal and courier sector

The Nigerian Postal Services(NIPOST), and  Salem Quest has  signed a  Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) to hold stakeholders summit, that will  enable the postal agency to  reposition its authority in the industry through well-crafted initiative.
The  Post Master General of the Federation, Dr Ismail Adewusi, said  the stakeholders summit will significantly impact  NIPOST,  and  the Courier sector.
He disclosed that the stakeholders summit will bring about positive landmark in the postal and Courier sector.
“It will bring about interaction among industry players,  and stakeholders  in the courier and logistics sector.
It will create an opportunity to provide solution to the challenges in the postal and courier  sector”.
In the same vein, he added that some of the major milestones of the summit will be sensitizing the stakeholders about the operating laws in the postal system.
” What we have today is not really encouraging, most of the operators do not know the importance of operating in a sane environment. That is why they have been trying to cut corners by disobeying the laws of the land.”
“The summit will create an opportunity to let everyone understand the laws and how the industry players operate, particularly the legally recognised ones, so that they can continue to operate in an environment of peace”.
The CEO of Salem Quest Limited, Dr Fidel Diyyo said there is need for stakeholders
in the postal and courier industry to create  a veritable platform for networking.
He added that the summit will enable the federal government to generate money in the courier sector.
” We are planning and organising an annual summit and expo that will be done yearly over a 3 years period to enhance growth and development in the postal and courier sector “.
“We carried out research exercise and discovered that we are not maximising all the potentials in the courier and distribution sector. We can leverage on NIPOST to effect positive change in the sector “.
