…Splashes Over N100 Million on Physically Challenged Singer, Chris Vic
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has renewed his appeal for unity among the people of the State, urging citizens to rise above political, ethnic, and sectional divides in the spirit of the State anthem and the founding vision of Akwa Ibom.
The Governor made the call during the Ibom Unity Concert, held at the International Worship Centre, Uyo, where thousands gathered in worship to herald the Christmas season and reinforce the State’s bond as “children of God with Jesus Christ.”
Governor Eno, who ministered in multiple languages during the event, said Akwa Ibom’s foundation was built on love, unity, and shared identity—values he vowed to uphold irrespective of political differences.
“Our forebears came together and formed the Ibibio Union. They did not know Annang, Oro, Eket, or Ibibio. All they knew was that we should have a State to fight for and protect for our children and children’s children,” he said.
“A united Akwa Ibom is an indivisible Akwa Ibom that rises above ethnicity and believes in God.”
Gov. Eno Gifts Over N100m in Support of Chris Vic
The high point of the concert was the emotional moment Governor Eno honoured Chris Vic, a physically challenged gospel artiste whose spirit-filled performance moved the congregation.
Describing him as “a gift to Akwa Ibom State and a divine instrument of God,” the Governor announced a package of support exceeding ₦100 million to enhance the singer’s welfare and career.
He directed the Commissioner for Lands to allocate Chris Vic a plot of land in Uyo and announced plans to build a four-bedroom apartment, with two rooms converted into a fully equipped music studio valued at ₦100 million. He further pledged a ₦1 million monthly allowance for the artiste throughout his tenure as Governor.
“We need to encourage our talents. Let this remind us that even in challenging circumstances, we can still praise God,” he said.
“This Government cares about those living with disability.”
Worshipers Charged to Uphold Peace and Unity
Governor Eno thanked worshipers for setting aside political differences to honour God in unity, noting that such gatherings strengthen the peace and harmony the State currently enjoys.
Delivering a sermon titled “In Him We Live, Move and Have Our Being,” drawn from Acts 17:24–28, Archbishop Emmah Isong urged citizens to maintain unity, love, and respect for leadership, stressing that these are foundations for peace and development.
The cleric commended Governor Eno for fostering unity and presented him with a “Unity Award” on behalf of the event organisers.
A Night of Musical Worship
The concert featured electrifying performances from renowned gospel artistes, including Mercy Chinwo, Moses Bliss, Progress Effiong, Awesome Group, Victor Thompson, Bobby Friga, Chris Vic, Reho Sax, David G, Prosper Ochimana, BeeJay Sax, and Aity Dennis, all of whom thrilled the audience with uplifting gospel renditions.
