Pharmacist Habiba Suleiman of Kajane Pharmacy Karu, has called on young women and girls to maintain a high level of hygiene while menstruating.

She made the disclosure at a sensitization program organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports,  Sam Empowerment Foundation and United Nations Population Fund at Orozo, Abuja.

The Pharmacist advised women and girls not to be shy about menstruation while stating that it is a normal occurrence that is part of a woman’s lifecycle.

She noted that in situations where there is no money to purchase a sanitary pad, cloth can be used for the same purpose.

“It is important to take your bath, use perfume and dress well during the menstrual cycle. A pad should not be worn for more than 8 hours. The disposal should also be done properly, to prevent clogging of the toilet”, the Pharmacist said.
