Group faults online media report of the arrest of Former Zamfara Governor Yari

The Patriotic Youth initiative against corruption has faulted a report credited to one of the online media outfits, Premium times over a report it published about the arrest of the immediate past governor of Zamfara state Abdul Azeez Yari.
The group’s team leader Yunusa Ango, expressed dismay over how some mushroom online bloggers have chosen blackmail, assassination of character and defamation of hard earned reputation of public figures, inorder to achieve cheap popularity courtesy of the sponsorship of their principals which in all ramifications is wrong.
“If not how can a platform publish yesterday that Yari who comfortably broke fast in his home was arrested by the EFCC? We believe that strong opponents of Yari from the state are behind this campaign of calumny orchestrated to weaken him, dent his political image, and also deprive him of the opportunity to contest for the APC plum job.”
“Their deception has failed woefully as Nigerians who holds the former NGF chairman in high esteem took their time to carryout secret investigation which proved Tobe untrue.”
The group is urging the anti graft agency to institute libel against the online medium inorder to serve as deterant to others.
“The era of sensational journalism is gone, as such, more objective issues that can bring development should be discussed, rather than fictitious image denting.
The various antics of the opposition in Zamfara state to frustrate or divert attentions of the general public towards accepting that Yari is corrupt has been defeated as the rising spate of armed banditry is day by day portraying the incumbent government in bad light “.
“This  is pushing the captain of the failed ship to concluding to decamp to the APC that Yari has laboured to build in the state.
There is no way a supreme court state chief executive can compete with Yari , who was duly elected and declared by INEC for two terms as the state Governor. Not satisfied with his experience, the National level is also yearning to tap from his wealth of experience. This is the  reason why we are calling on him to vie for the APC national chairmanship inorder to bring the party to repute.”
