Government should put in place policies that would improve health care services

The Chief Medical Director of National Hospital Abuja,  Dr Jaf Momoh, has emphasized the need for government to put in place policies that would improve health care services in the country.
While urging critical stakeholders to be strategic about improving the quality of health care services in the country.
He disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the National servicom and service assessment retreat of all the Federal Teaching Hospital and Medical centre in Nigeria.
He also urged medical practitioners to exercise a high level of patience while dealing with patients.
“The service assessment by servicom is to ensure that efficient delivery is rendered to patients by all government-owned hospitals nationwide.
Through this training, we would ensure  that continuous improvement would become a nationwide principle on patient care in all  federal teaching hospitals in Nigeria.”
The Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Health, Alhaji Umar said reformation is needed for better service delivery in the population of the country.
“We are trying to move forward vital and sensitive issues about citizens so that they can access the best services possible within the available resources.
We want them to adopt a positive attitude to ensure that citizens don’t have to leave the shores of the country”.
The National Hospital Servicom.Head of Information and Protocol Management Dr Tayo Hastrup said the retreat is meant to emphasize the importance of servicom units in all government hospital .
‘” This is  to ensure quality service delivery in all the teaching hospitals across the country and also to reduce patients negligence and complains.
It is also meant for us to deliberate on areas and policies that need changes and then reach out to the Frderal Ministry of Health and National coordinator of servicom for implementation.”
The National Servicom Coordinator Nnena Akajemele said the meeting will provide a platform where information, successes, knowledge and experience sharing as well as best practices is well coordinated  among representatives from different parastatals and agencies under the ministry.
“We want  you to begin to do the seemingly impossible and think outside of the box in order to add value to the service delivery of processes in the various hospitals, and agencies to the satisfaction of citizens and for the common good of every Nigerian.”
“In today’s world, the concept of design thinking as a way of creative resolution of problem is fast gaining ground. I would  appeal for solution-focused thinking as we attend to issues of service failures at all service points.”
