Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged youths in the state to stand out in their respective careers through hard work, resilience, consistency, and creativity in order to make a global impact.

Speaking at the “Okon and Friends Live in Concert” organized by the popular Akwa Ibom-born Nollywood actor and comedian, Ime Bishop Umoh, popularly known as “Okon Lagos,” held at FlairMore Event Centre, Uyo, the Governor identified hard work, consistency, and resilience as the cornerstones of success in every career.

“One of the things that is not right with our young people today is that they don’t pursue their paths; they want to run other people’s races. They are not consistent and tenacious in their chosen careers to make a huge difference,” he noted.

According to Governor Eno, the resilience of Okon Lagos for over 25 years in his career has been remarkable, saying, “You have been steady and focused on this career path; that’s why you are making an impressive impact in Nigeria and beyond.”

Governor Eno said, “Our youths need to develop that perseverance; they need to know what they want. Today, they start a career; tomorrow, they abandon it to start another one. They want everything and end up having nothing. Be focused and consistent to make a mark.”

He commended Okon Lagos for his doggedness and commitment to his chosen career, which has earned him phenomenal success.

The Governor announced plans to set up a creative village for youths in the state to harness and groom talents in their different creative endeavors.

“We will continue to work with our young people and support creativity and innovations that will positively promote and position them to accomplish more in life,” he assured.

Earlier, Okon Lagos appreciated Governor Eno for finding time to identify with his craft, saying, “It could only take the Governor’s humility to patronize my stupidity.”

Umoh later presented a posthumous award to the late First Lady of the state, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, for her encouragement, outstanding support, and belief in his chosen career.

Receiving the posthumous award on behalf of her mother, the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady in the state, Lady Helen Obareki, thanked Okon Lagos for his deep sense of gratitude to her departed mother, describing him as the pride of Akwa Ibom State.

The concert featured rib-cracking comedy and music performances by popular comedians, including MC Pashun, The Senator, Koloman, Funny Bone, Dan D’Humourous, I Go Save, and Mista Xto, among others.

The occasion was graced by the State Deputy Governor, Senator Dr. Akon Eyakenyi; Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; members of the State Executive Council; captains of industry; political stalwarts; and fun seekers.
