Uyo, Akwa Ibom — Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, on Friday, paid an unscheduled inspection visit to the Ibom Icon Hotel and Golf Resort, where renovation works are currently ongoing.
The Governor, who was conducted round the facility by the Delivery Advisor on Tourism and Managing Director of the hotel, Sir Charles Udoh, expressed satisfaction with the progress of work but urged the contracting firm to accelerate efforts to ensure completion before the Christmas season.
Governor Eno noted that the hotel remains one of the state’s foremost hospitality assets and emphasized the importance of restoring it to world-class standards ahead of the yuletide festivities.
He also inspected the Marina axis of the resort and disclosed that some of the state’s Christmas and New Year activities would be hosted at the location as part of efforts to boost tourism and leisure within the state.
The Governor was accompanied on the visit by top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; Executive Assistant/Chief Delivery Advisor, Mr. Aniefiok Johnson; Dean of Commissioners and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong; Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anietie Udofia; and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Hensek Integrated Services, Engr. Uwem Okoko, among others.
