Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has described the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, as a man of remarkable vision, humility, and impactful leadership.
President Tinubu made the commendation during a reception held after the funeral of Late Deaconess Eno Nnana Usoro, mother of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Deputy Governor (Operations), Ms. Emem Usoro, at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
Represented by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, the President applauded Governor Eno’s exemplary leadership style, noting that his humility, unity of purpose, and development-driven governance have led to steady progress in the state.
While consoling Ms. Usoro and the bereaved family, President Tinubu extolled the virtues of the late matriarch, describing her as “a great story of grace, faith, generosity, and service to humanity.”
He remarked that Deaconess Usoro’s life was “a sermon, her kindness a ministry, and her legacy an inheritance that will outlive her,” adding that those who live in service to others “never truly die but are resurrected in every act of goodness done in their name.”
In his remarks, Governor Umo Eno lauded Ms. Usoro for her impressive capacity to attract distinguished Nigerians, including the Vice President, to Akwa Ibom for the funeral of her mother.
The Governor, on behalf of the government and people of Akwa Ibom State, expressed heartfelt condolences to the Usoro family, urging them to take solace in the fact that their late mother lived a life dedicated to faith, family, and service to humanity.
Governor Eno also appreciated Vice President Shettima for his presence and show of affection towards the deceased’s family and the people of Akwa Ibom State.
Also speaking, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, commended Ms. Usoro for making Akwa Ibom proud and for honouring her late mother in such a remarkable way. He prayed for divine comfort for the Usoro family, that “the peace that surpasses all understanding” may abide with them.
The event was graced by members of the National Assembly, the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council, captains of industry, political leaders, and the general public, all gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the late Deaconess Usoro.
