Foundation calls for eradication of poverty in Nigeria

 

 

 

 

 

 

A Non   Governmental Organization, Madam Moesillo Foundation has called on Nigerian leaders to eradicate poverty and hunger in the society.

The Program Manager of the Foundation, made the disclosure while on an outreach to an Internally Displaced Camp in Kuchingoro, Abuja.

She said it is high time for the leaders in the country  to make live easier for the citizen, as the poverty index   of the country is on the increase.

According to her, it is essential to make all the citizens happy irrespective of their status in life.

The Program Manager of Madam Moesillo Foundation, Diana Edema- Sillo  Eyo, said most parent   cannot meet the basic need of their children, and called on the government to provide basic amenities to the populace.

“We decided to make the children happy, so as to keep hope alive. Most of them are living under inhumane condition, which is not good at all. The situation in the Internally Displaced Camp is very pathetic, and we decided to give them some materials that will improve the sanitation in the camp.

Speaking further, she noted that the Pikin Belleful Project is meant to empower the less privileged children in the society.

“Due to the level of poverty in the society, it is essential to show love to every one  in the society, especially children.

The Foundation decided to share Educational materials to the students   in the camp.

We also sensitized them on the importance of maintaining good hygiene”.

She further  disclosed that the organization is out to enforce the actualization of SDGs 1,3, and 4.

She added that there is need to empower the women folk and children, so as to improve the society at large.

The Program Manager explained that the organization is really passionate about women and gender issues.

“Our target audience are women, children, adolescent and vulnerable ones. Even those People Living with Disability. ”she added.

In addition, she highlighted that there is need to sensitize the populace on mental health, as some   of the citizen are undergoing mental stress at the moment.

“It is essential to give support to people in the society, who is passing through one issue or the other.

The high rate of suicide is quite alarming, there is need for us to be our brother’s keeper at all times”.

In terms of mental health, we give support to children who are not accepted in the society, who need strong financial and moral support in becoming better individuals.
