It was a moment of celebration and joy in Eyubiasang village on Thursday as residents turned out in large numbers to welcome the Executive Chairman, Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Chief (Amb.) Uno Etim Uno who visited to commission a solar-powered borehole project executed by his administration.
Addressing the gathering, the Executive Chairman, Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Uno Etim Uno said the project marked the fulfillment of one of his campaign promises which emphasized staying connected with the grassroots and implementing impactful developmental projects that directly benefit rural communities.
He thanked the people of Eyubiasang for their cooperation and support in restoring the community’s solar-powered borehole.
“I am excited to be in Eyubiasang today to fulfill one of my campaign promises.
“I am particularly proud of the youth who have shown responsibility in protecting what belongs to them. This borehole is yours protect it and make the most of it,” he charged.
In his speech, the Village Head of Eyubiasang, Chief Effiong Okon Uye, commended the Chairman’s efforts at ensuring the spread of the dividends of democracy across rural communities.
“I am confident that your administration will bring succour to our people, especially those of us who have long yearned for a better local governance,” Chief Uye remarked, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the Chairman’s dedication to infrastructural development.
Echoing this sentiment, the village Youth Leader, Comrade Enema, described Chief Uno Etim Uno as a true grassroots politician who deeply understands the needs of the people, expressing optimism that his administration will address most of the long standing issues affecting the area.
He also praised the administration for its numerous interventions, including the provision of teachers quarters for primary school head teachers, and other initiatives both ongoing and completed which he described as invaluable.
In his goodwill message, a Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission (NPC), Engr. (Chief) Benedict Ukpong lauded Chief Uno’s performance, describing his projects as people-oriented while admonishing the people of the area to protect government infrastructures.
The Women Leader of Eyubiasang, Mrs. Nkoyo, praised the Chairman’s consistency and results-driven leadership, describing him as “a man of his word and a true promise keeper.”
