…Why Uyo Will Always Stand with Governor Umo Eno – SSG

Uyo — The Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, has reaffirmed the steadfast loyalty of Uyo Local Government Area to Governor Umo Eno, declaring that the people of Uyo will continually stand with the administration in appreciation of its fairness, inclusiveness, and visible development strides.

Prince Uwah made the remarks during a massively attended APC Home-Going Weekend held at St. Patrick Primary School, where thousands of party faithful gathered in a display of unity and political strength.

Addressing the crowd, the SSG conveyed the Governor’s gratitude for the community’s consistent support.

“I bring you greetings from Pastor Umo Eno, who asked me to thank you immensely for the continuous support to his administration. The very first appointment announced by the Governor was that of the SSG, so why won’t Uyo support him? I thought I was coming for a meeting, only to meet this kind of rally,” he said.

Earlier in his welcome address, APC Chapter Chairman, Mr. Gabriel Ikpe, applauded party leaders and members for their unity, noting that the APC remains the dominant political force in the state. He expressed confidence that the party would achieve a convincing victory in 2027.

Also speaking, the Member Representing Uyo State Constituency, Hon. Uwemedimo Udo, highlighted the Governor’s appointment of several prominent Uyo indigenes — including the SSG, ALGON Chairman, UCCDA Chairman, and other key officials — as evidence that the area has no justification to be outside the APC mainstream. He assured that Uyo would deliver “100 per cent APC” in the next elections.

The Chairman of UCCDA, Hon. (Sir) Anietie Eka, echoed this sentiment, insisting that Governor Eno’s remarkable performance across all sectors has already settled any debate regarding 2027. According to him, the focus should now shift beyond 2027, as the Governor’s achievements have strengthened the party’s prospects.

Similarly, Hon. Monday Eyo commended the Governor for fostering unity statewide, adding that the peaceful and harmonious atmosphere witnessed at the event was a direct reflection of his leadership style.

The ALGON Chairman, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, lauded the SSG for his consistent support to all wards in Uyo and thanked the Governor for entrusting the SSG position to an indigene of the area. He further praised the Governor’s achievements in infrastructure and service delivery.

On behalf of Governor’s aides, the Senior Special Assistant on Entrepreneurial Development, Mr. Ime Uwah, assured that they remain firmly committed to ensuring a smooth, decisive victory for the APC in upcoming elections.

Highpoints of the event included accreditation and revalidation of APC membership, the official presentation of the party register to the SSG, and goodwill messages from stakeholders, elders, women, youths, non-indigenes, and clan representatives — all reaffirming solid support for Governor Umo Eno’s second-term bid.

The event drew attendance from several notable personalities, including Dr. (Mrs.) Inemesit Uwah, wife of the SSG; former Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Prof. Chris Ekong; Delivery Advisor to the Governor on Tourism, Mr. Charles Udoh; former Senior Aide to the Governor, Elder Enefiok Ekefre; Coordinator of the ARISE Initiative for the Elderly, Mrs. Mercy Eka; and several other elders, stakeholders, women, youths, aides to the Governor, and non-indigenes.
