Ebonyi state government set to end cholera outbreak

- The Ebonyi State Governor, Dan Nweze Umahi, said the government is set to curb the spread of cholera in the state.
He added that 10 boreholes would be sunk in Afikpo North as a way of tackling water scarcity in the Council and curbing the spread of Cholera in the area.
Governor Umahi disclosed this when he visited victims of the cholera outbreak at Amata Akpoha MDG Hospital.
While thanking the Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Area, Mr. Uchenna Nnajiofor, the Commissioner for Health, Dan Umezurike, and Health Workers at the facility for their efforts at saving the lives of the patients, said his administration would also construct modern toilets in the area within the next two weeks.
He disclosed that the Commissioner for Water Resources, the Commissioner for Health, and all the Leaders will identify the location to sink 10 boreholes and construct toilets in the community.
“There is nothing as good as peace, the same way we should not allow division to come in between us, when leaders struggle for supremacy, it is a terrible thing because there is a place for everybody. We appreciate all the stakeholders for their prompt response, and encourage them to uphold peace in their community”, he said.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Daniel Umezuruike said over 100 patients have been successfully managed at the Health facility and commended the State Government for giving the Health Stakeholders the necessary support.
