The Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria(CS-SUNN) is calling for multisectorial collaboration to address malnutrition in the country.
The Communication Officer of CS-SUNN Mrs Lilian Okafor stated this at the 2024 Nigeria Health Watch Nutrition Forum.
She emphasized the importance of partnerships in tackling malnutrition in Nigeria.
The Nutrition advocate said CS-SUNN is fostering collaborations among its 200+ member organizations, government bodies, and non-state actors.
“Our advocacy effort, capacity building, media engagement, and multi-sectoral collaboration have led to significant achievements, including the approval and domestication of the National Multisectoral Plan of Action for Food and Nutrition”, she said.
According to her, the nutrition group has also supported the functionality of existing coordination platforms, bringing together relevant stakeholders to address nutrition challenges.
She further highlighted the alliance’s passion for evidence-based advocacy, citing the institutionalization of the government’s appraisal tool, now digitized into the Performance Management System.
Okafor also emphasized CS-SUNN’s collaborative approach with the government, providing technical support and advocacy to strengthen capacity.
She noted that CS-SUNN celebrates joint successes, recognizing that scaling up nutrition requires concerted efforts from all stakeholders.
The nutrition advocate also praised the alliance’s participation in the forum and commended Nigeria Health Watch for promoting multisectoral coordination for nutrition in Nigeria.
“With continued collaboration and advocacy, we remain committed to eradicating malnutrition in Nigeria”, she noted.
