Sheikh Muhammad Nuru Khalid, the Digital Sheikh and former Chief Imam of Apo Mosque have called for balancing religion among political candidates contesting for the general election in 2023, to ensure peace and harmony among Nigerian citizens.
The cleric urged the political leaders to do something that would unite Nigerians and make them feel that they are one.
He also suggested that the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong would make a good running mate for Asiwaju Tinubu, as the presidential candidate of APC.
He further noted that it is the responsibility of those who wish to save the nation to devise actions that would boil up the system, and put one section of the citizens against the others.
“To ensure religious balance in  the country, a candidate who is a professional Muslim should pick a Christian as running mate, while also a Christian should pick a Muslim as running mate.”
“My concern is the forthcoming general elections while congratulating those that emerge winners in their respective political parties. My concern is unity and peace. We can only have peace and unity in this country if we use religion and politics in uniting ourselves. The truth is that we need unity that is built based on equity, fairness and justice”, said Sheikh Nuru.
While adding that many people in Nigeria can do that if they are given the chance to do so.
For example, the Governor of Plateau stated that, if given a chance to be Vice President in Nigeria, he would do a lot because we have seen an example from his previous deeds.
