    Publisher of Newsday Newspaper, a frontline publication in Nigeria, Chief Edet Isong, will joyfully celebrate his 60th birthday on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

    An erudite businessman and respected community leader, Chief Isong hails from Uboro-Oro in Urue Offong Oruko Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Born in 1965 into the royal family of Late HRM Ahta Okon Oyokunyi Isong JP, the first Paramount Ruler of Oron, he has continued to uphold his family’s legacy of leadership, excellence, and service.

    Chief Isong is the visionary Founder of Isong Childcare and Health Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to providing quality healthcare for vulnerable children across Nigeria. He is also the Founder of The Noble Leadership Initiative, an accredited platform that raises leaders through symposiums and lectures on national development, as well as August Born Legends, which unites and celebrates achievers born in the month of August.

    A former Council Chairman of Urue Offong Oruko Local Government Area, Chief Isong has remained a strong pillar in the development of his community and beyond. His immense contributions have earned him numerous awards and recognitions, including:

    • Presidential Award – Oron Development Union USA Inc (2014)
    • Certificate of Service, Pillar, Oron Anchor – Town New Century Lions Club (2006)
    • Peace Ambassador Award (2003)
    • Award of Excellence – Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council (2002)
    • Former National Treasurer – Akwa Ibom Professionals, Abuja
    • Trustee – Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja

    In politics, Chief Isong has played prominent roles in both the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC). As a PDP stalwart, he served as a Member of the National Convention Venue Committee during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo. In 2014, he joined the APC where he has served as a National Delegate and Member of the State Zoning Committee, Akwa Ibom State.

    Chief Edet Isong proudly holds the prestigious traditional titles of Okosisi 1, Mokafa of Efut, Obong Nsehe Ekpene Ukim Uruan, Ntanta Oro, and Okete Okete Oro.

    A philanthropist par excellence, passionate football lover, avid reader, and successful businessman, Chief Isong continues to touch lives and inspire many both within and outside Nigeria.

    As the Diamond Jubilee countdown begins, family, friends, and associates are set to celebrate this iconic figure who embodies resilience, vision, and humanity.
