Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has announced that the Dakkada Skills Acquisition Center in Ikot Ada Idem, Ibiono Ibom local government area of the state, shall be opened for studies from May 20, 2024. The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has issued a one week ultimatum to Nigeria’s 36 state governors and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Mr Nyesom Wike to account for loan agreements and spending details of some N5.9 trillion and $4.6 billion loans obtained by their states and the FCT. The Rivers State House of Assembly has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of dishonesty, threatening to resume impeachment proceedings against him if he continues to breach the constitution. Martin Amaewhule, the Speaker of the House, made this known on Saturday during a press briefing in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has said that he inherited a huge debt burden of $587m, N85bn and 115 contractual liabilities from the immediate past administration of Nasir El-Rufai, lamenting that the huge debt has eaten deep into the state’s federal allocation. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says it has successfully restored the national grid following a system disturbance at 4:28 p.m. on Thursday. In a statement on Friday evening, the TCN said full recovery was achieved by 10:00 p.m. that same day. The TCN said that a report from the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo, indicated that the system disturbance was triggered by a significant reduction in generation capacity, primarily due to gas constraints.
