The officers and men of the Asokoro Area command of the directorate of road traffic services known as VIO on the 27th of May during their routine stop and inspect intercepted a twenty-five-year-old mechanic who absconded with his customer’s Peugeot 206 given to him to repair.
The Area Commander of the Asokoro command Mallam Usman Suleiman, emphasized that when the eagle eye officer stopped the suspect, he induced him with money which the VIO refused, and insisted on getting the vehicle details which the occupant failed to produce.
He said that he recently purchased the vehicle, and was on his way to Bauchi.
This made the officer became suspicious and decided to impound the vehicle in the course of the investigation.
The police were contacted which opened success for the apprehension, when the police affirmed that a report has been made to them in Abuja, regarding the theft of the car by the suspect.
Already the police have taken custody of the car, and the suspect.
It is on record that the VIO Asokoro division once apprehended a truck fleeing with Bokoharam suspects, who also offered them a bribe to be left off the hook.
The same Area commander Usman Suleiman was in charge, which demonstrates his zero tolerance for corruption.
In this era of insecurity, the intelligence being used in vehicle inspection and stoppage in Asokoro is commendable and deserve commendation.
The stewardship of Wadata Aliyu Dogo Bodinga, which have free hands to Area command, is making successes to be recorded.
