EXPOSING THE ONNA FRONT
Dear Ndito Akwa Ibom,
I write to warn you of the peril that is about to be unleashed upon our State in 2027. What is coming is no ordinary politics. Those who still wine and dine with the serpent, mistaking it for a pet, must not cry foul when it sinks its fangs into their flesh. Because the very man with whom you conspire today to undermine Governor Umo Eno, will – when he realises that his cause is doomed, barter away your names to buy back his place in the Governor’s favour. Your treachery will become his bargaining chip, he will discard you like pawns. The big masquerade behind The Onna Front is a mindless cold manipulator. With no friends. He is his own god. Do not be the hapless fly caught in his web of lies. He is ready to sponsor nomination forms across the State within and without APC, PDP, YPP, ACN, SDP, all the political parties. He is cunning – the master conman. The puppet master. But he’s been exposed. And we’ll keep exposing him. Today he is the one sponsoring APC party members, the original members and the new members to fight over the party’s structure. His mission – spread confusion, weaken Governor Umo Eno politically from within.
The Onna Front is the most insidious and duplicitous political formation ever to emerge in Akwa Ibom. It is a shadowy force—cunning, ruthless, and utterly devoid of conscience. It has no party, no loyalty, no borders. It bows to no father, no mother, no godfather but itself. It is its own voice, its own altar, its own high priest. It is a coven of ambition, cloaked in vile deceit.
Pastor Umo Eno, our Governor, once warned: “Opposition iniehe Ette, iniehe Eka.” This was not rhetoric. It was prophecy. The Onna Front is not the PDP opposition. That narrative is a smokescreen for the gullible. The Onna Front is an unholy rebellion, an organised state-wide defiance against the Governor’s vision of Akwa Ibom United. While Pastor Umo Eno proclaims unity, the Onna Front chants division: “United Akwa Ibom against Umo Eno.”
We once believed the dark days of corrosive politics were behind us. From the Lagos Group of the Second Republic, to the Lagos Front, Abuja Front, and Home Front of the Fourth Republic , our people have endured manipulation. Yet none of these factions—none—has exhibited the cold sophistication, the calculated treachery, and the venomous ambition of the Onna Front. It was this same syndicate, or one of its underlings, that desecrated our common decency by circulating that vile video about the Governor’s daughter. Let there be no illusions: the Onna Front takes no prisoners. Its mission is total conquest—to capture Akwa Ibom in 2027 by hook, by crook, or by chokehold.
Akwa Ibomites, the choice before us is stark. Do we return to the politics of hunger-as-a-weapon, when access to government was rationed to a chosen few? Do we descend again into the politics of idiok esit—where faceless cowards send poisonous gossip, false text messages, doctored photos, and fabricated voice notes to destroy reputations – sent to the Governor!? Or do we defend the peace and prosperity we now enjoy under Akwa Ibom United?
Governor Umo Eno has shattered the old “cash-and-carry” playbook. Unlike some of our Niger Delta neighbours mired in conflict, Akwa Ibom has been blessed with political stability. Pastor Eno has not governed by intimidation or deprivation. He has opened wide the gates of prosperity. No longer is government the preserve of a privileged clique. All Akwa Ibomites have a stake in this prosperity.
For this, we must thank former Governor Deacon Udom Emmanuel, who—by divine wisdom—anointed a worthy successor. Leadership succession is rarely about whom you wish to enthrone, but always about whom you refuse to entrust with power. Udom Emmanuel’s decision to back Umo Eno is the single most consequential and inspired political act in the history of this State. Christians across Akwa Ibom recognise the hand of God in that choice.
Sun Tzu, in The Art of War, wrote: “The greatest victory is that which requires no battle.” I urge former Governor Udom Emmanuel: do not squander your greatest victory. Your legacy is secure in Governor Umo Eno. Any war against him—whether fought openly or by proxy—will be ruinous, humiliating, and futile. Udom Emmanuel is too intelligent, too honourable, and too prudent to finance a political suicide mission. He must not allow the embittered, to lure him into a fight that history will remember only as a disgrace. A war that will most certainly consign him into the dustbin of history.
Five weeks ago, Governor Umo Eno declared with unmistakable clarity:
“I have run this State for two years under the PDP, and the State was not divided. Now that I am in the APC, do not divide the State. We have the capacity to run it united, and if need be, to run it as the APC. Make no mistake—do not confuse simplicity for stupidity. Do not try it.”
Mark my words: no masquerade welcomes unmasking. Witches rage when their coven is exposed. A serpent strikes when its hole is uncovered. Therefore, watch carefully those who attack this message. In them, you will see the very faces of the Onna Front.
Akwa Ibom does not belong to political cabals. It belongs to God, and to its people. And in 2027, the people must rise to defend their peace, their prosperity, and their unity.
