Nifemi Babasanmi
Electoral impartiality, equality and franchise have once again been brought to be and signals of stability of our democracy, this was the words of the image maker of one of the most respected northern groups, the Arewa youths for peace and security that has been in existence since 2009.
Salihu Dantata Mahmud emphasised that the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke in Osun state has demonstrated  President Muhammadu Buhari’s non-interference with electoral matters and activities of the apex electoral body.
“We want to congratulate the Adeleke family of Ede, good electorates of Osun state as well as the Northern communities in Apomu, Ikire, Ila -Orangun and Okuku who supported the PDP candidate Demola Adeleke”.
“This has once again demonstrated the tie and unity amongst the resident Arewa people in Osun. We urge the Governor_ elect to prepare a blueprint for educational development, healthcare delivery, employment creation, youth and women empowerment as well as increased revenue generation.” He added.
He further noted that residents who are non-indigenes must be accorded a guarantee and peace of living without harassment.
” So far, the Governor-elect has maintained a very cordial relationship with northern groups like ours since his tenure as a Senator. We know him to be tolerant, down-to-earth, humane and operates open door policy.”
“I had the opportunity of eating breakfast, lunch and even discussing national integration with him. I once consulted for him as a media consultant to the extent that he sought to make me part of his crew in the senate but  my tasking responsibilities made it impossible.”
Mahmud also implored the immediate past Governor to shield all grievances and congratulate the victorious Adeleke in the interest of development in the state.
“The Labour party candidate should do the same. They all need to come together for the betterment of the state. I urge them to borrow suit Jonathan’s conceding of defeat to President Buhari in 2015. The traditional rulers in Osun state must also make a truce between the warring parties. Individuals go but institutions remain.”
“May the gentle souls of elder Sen. Adeleke the patriarch of the Adeleke’s as well as Late Isiaka Adeleke(serubawon) the first civilian governor of Osun state rest in perfect peace. Our felicitations also go to Davido’s father an elder brother to Demola, B Red Demo’s son as well as our ace musician the OBO now OG… Omo Baba olowo now Omo Gomina. Together you can build Osun.” He added.
