The Arewa youths for peace and security has decried the non payment of salaries of staff of the pharmaceutical council of Nigeria since the 2024 budget year and therefore appeals to President Tinubu to wade into it.
Salihu Dantata Mahmud made this known during an intelligence report obtained by the group during its fact finding.
“Going by the important role the PCN plays by safeguarding the healthy living of Nigerians through ensuring standard drugs in pharmacies ,regulation of pharmaceutical companies as well as fight against circulation of fake drugs in the country, such a sensitive body should not be subjected to this ridicule of non payment of salaries .”
“The body had presented the budget for 2024 to the budget office but the budget office continuously told them to wait until the appropriate period expired which culminated into their present predicament. “We urge President Tinubu to order Finance minister to find ways of paying their salaries as they have families too. Leaving them without salaries can lure some of them into corruption which is not good.
“In a situation where a sensitive regulating body like this is allowed to face non payment of salaries, then you are encouraging them to negotiate with fake pharmacies and substandard manufacturers to flood in fake drugs.”
