All you need to know about NNPP’s gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu Maidoya

As a Northerner by birth, the name “maidoya” strikes a chord in my memory. Anyone who has ever stayed in the north will know that “maidoya” refers to one who sells yam. While growing up in Kano, there is this particular “maidoya” (yam seller) my family always patronises. His appearance in our compound is always greeted with joy because his yams are good and the prices very reasonable and this endeared him to many inhabitants in that area as everyone appreciates Maidoya for his honesty, transparency, neatness and friendliness. So, everyone ended up loving this particular maidoya as he had already endeared himself in our hearts.

Just like the maidoya above in the opening paragraph, Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu Maidoya is also loved by many but the difference between him and the former is that he doesn’t sell yams. He is a businessman and a politician. However, just like the former, the latter has endeared himself to the hearts of the people of Nasarawa as he is known for his transparency, philanthropy and kind gesture, a trait it appears every “maidoya” seems to have.

Alhaji Abdullah Yakubu Maidoya is the Managing Director of Maiyamco Investment Nig.Ltd and also the gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigerian party in Nasarawa State. This particular maidoya hails from Unguwan Wajen Rabo Lafia in Nasarawa state from the humble family of Baba Yakubu and he obtained his ND and HND from Kano State Polytechnic and his master’s degree from Bayero University Kano.

His entrepreneurial spirit has led him to establish his own company, Maiyamco Investment Nig. Ltd with branches in 19 states, including Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Kwara, Kogi, Benue, Adamawa, Gombe, and others, with its headquarters in Kano’s Dawanau International Market. He is also planning to develop 16 hectares of land on the Doma Lafia Road with an investment worth ₦2.6 billion.

Having done very well for himself in the business world, Alhaji Abdullah Yakubu Maidoya, is now in politics to contribute his own quota in making Nigeria and Nassarawa State a good place to be. He is aspiring to become the governor of Nasarawa  come 2023 under the platform of the New Nigerian Peoples Party after he emerged victorious in the primary election of the NNPP as he got 347 votes from the delegates.

Mai doya as he is fondly called by friends and well-wishers even before his entrance into politics has demonstrated admirable goodwill, love and support towards the people as his philanthropist gesture is second to none in Nasarawa  State.  He has donated millions of naira to underprivileged students as scholarship grants and also aided in the empowerment of many youths in various Nasarawa  communities.  He has also been involved in rural electrification by purchasing transformers and cables for communities and his companies have employed thousands of Nigerians and people from Nasarawa as well.

As the campaign towards the race on wins the gubernatorial seat of Government House on Shendam Road in 2023, draws near, the people of Nasarawa are blessed to have a man called Mai Doya and they can be assured that that they can get a qualitative representation from him as every northerner knows that a serious minded Hausa yam seller (Mai Doya) will not sell bad yams to his customers and if in the case there is a customer complaints concerning the yams purchase, the yam seller will simply make restitution to please the customer. Mai Doya is credible and he comes with intimidating credentials. It appears he can take Nasarawa to the Promised Land.
