Chief Isong, Okete Okete Oro, joins the people of Udung Uko Local Government in celebrating one year in office of Hon. Elder Godwin Okponung as Executive Chairman. Under his leadership, Udung Uko has witnessed several transformative projects and people-oriented initiatives that are restoring hope and improving lives.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Laid the foundation for a new Legislative Block at the Council Secretariat, Eyofin, Udung Uko, marking commitment to better legislative infrastructure.  
  • Restoration of electricity across several parts of Udung Uko.  
  • Renovation/revival of an abandoned Health Centre at Eyotai, with upgraded facilities.  
  • Scholarship awards to deserving students to support educational advancement in the local government.  
  • Construction and/or rehabilitation of roads in various wards.  
  • Introduced “Unity Cup” in football to foster unity among wards.  
  • Recognised for rewarding dedicated service: for example, presented a vehicle to his Chief Security Officer in appreciation of loyalty and service.  

SIGNIFICANCE

These accomplishments show that the Chairman’s administration is not just about visible infrastructure, but also about service, welfare, inclusion and unity.
