The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, last night joined the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Bassey Eno, and other government officials at the Akwa Ibom State Monthly Covenant Service held at the Banquet Hall, Government House Uyo.
The service, themed “El-Shaddai”, drawn from 2 Corinthians 9:8 (KJV), set the spiritual tone for the state’s activities in the third month of the year, traditionally observed as Women’s Month.
Speaking during the service, Governor Eno commended women across the state for their remarkable contributions, particularly in sensitising rural women on civic responsibilities. He also praised ongoing plans to commemorate the forthcoming International Women’s Day, scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026, with a massive rally.
The Governor announced that Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, will be in attendance and will inaugurate the ARISE Elderly Citizens Centre, a purpose-built recreational and care facility provided by the Akwa Ibom State Government for senior citizens.
He further directed the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady, to mobilise elderly citizens aged 65 years and above to attend the inauguration and take advantage of the facilities within the state’s medical corridor, including a clinic, supermarket, restaurant, gym, and other services aimed at enhancing their wellbeing.
