All is set for the funeral of Late Evangelist (Prince) Daniel Sampson Eyo of the Nung Akpan Ekpo Royal Family, Mbierebe Akpawat in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on behalf of the family by the eldest son of the deceased and Special Assistant to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Website and Multimedia, Engr. Solomon Eyo.
According to Engr. Eyo, his late father, fondly known as “Atang Akpaniko I,” passed on at the age of 70. He described him as a man widely respected for his deep faith, integrity and lifelong service to humanity.
Evangelist Eyo was a former officer of the Nigeria Police who later answered a divine call into evangelical ministry. He went on to serve passionately as a preacher of the Gospel, community leader and fearless advocate for truth, peace and good governance.
“Throughout his life, Evangelist Eyo was known for his honesty, uncommon courage, resilience in the face of adversity and a rare spirit of forgiveness. His commitment to God, family and community earned him widespread respect, while his counsel and moral guidance touched the lives of many across generations,” Engr. Eyo stated.
Funeral activities will commence with a Night of Songs and Tributes on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the deceased’s compound in Mbierebe Akpawat, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area. The burial ceremony will follow on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Primary School, Mbierebe Akpawat.
The family has invited friends, associates and members of the public to join them in celebrating the life and legacy of a man described as an icon of faith, peace and selfless service.
