The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned that any worker of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) who fails to resume duty from Wednesday, January 28, will face disciplinary action.
Wike issued the warning on Tuesday while briefing journalists at his office in Abuja, shortly after the National Industrial Court ordered striking workers to suspend their ongoing industrial action and return to work.
According to the Minister, the government will no longer tolerate actions capable of disrupting official activities within the FCT.
“From tomorrow, if you don’t come to work, we are going to apply the big stick. And from tomorrow, if we see anybody who wants to block the gate, we will make you a scapegoat. The law must take its place,” Wike warned.
The Minister disclosed that the FCT Administration had held several meetings with the unions involved and that all their grievances had been carefully discussed and documented.
He noted that both security agencies and FCT management had made efforts to resolve the impasse through dialogue, but lamented that the unions remained unyielding.
According to him, the situation suggests that the strike may be driven by motives beyond the stated demands of the workers.
Wike reaffirmed the commitment of the FCT Administration to maintaining law and order, stressing that government activities must not be disrupted under any guise.
He urged all workers to obey the court order and return to work immediately in order to avoid sanctions.
