In a remarkable show of unity and political alignment, the 31 Local Government Chairmen in Akwa Ibom State have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Governor Pastor Umo Eno, commending his performance in office and pledging their full support for his re-election in 2027.

The Chairmen, operating under the aegis of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), made the declaration on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, during a breakfast meeting hosted by the Governor at the Banquet Hall of Government Lodge, Uyo, to commemorate their first anniversary in office.

    ALGON Praises Eno’s Leadership

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the ALGON Chairman and Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Uwemedimo Udo, praised Governor Eno for what he described as “people-centered, inclusive, and development-driven leadership.”

Dr. Udo highlighted the Governor’s achievements in the past 29 months, noting that his administration’s ARISE Agenda has brought visible progress to communities across the 31 LGAs.

“Governor Umo Eno has set a new standard of governance rooted in humility, vision, and service to humanity,” Dr. Udo said. “We, the Local Government Chairmen, will fully mobilize grassroots structures to ensure his re-election in 2027.”

    Pledges to Tinubu and Akpabio

The ALGON Chairman also reaffirmed the Chairmen’s loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, pledging continued cooperation for the peace and development of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large.

“We are committed to supporting the policies of President Tinubu and working in synergy with our leader, Senator Akpabio, while sustaining the developmental strides of Governor Umo Eno,” he added.

    Opposition Chairman Joins Endorsement

In a rare display of bipartisan solidarity, the only opposition council boss, Hon. Kufre Umoren, Chairman of Onna Local Government Area, also declared full support for Governor Eno’s 2027 re-election bid.

“The Governor’s humility, accessibility, and visible performance inspire us,” Hon. Umoren said. “Leadership is about service, and Governor Eno has shown that in action.”

    Governor Eno Appreciates Grassroots Leaders

Responding, Governor Umo Eno expressed appreciation for the show of solidarity and commended the Chairmen for their collaborative spirit and achievements at the local government level.

“There is no local government that I am not happy with,” the Governor stated. “I’m proud of all of you because you’re doing well. Continue in that spirit of cooperation and peer review so that development reaches every corner of our state.”

Governor Eno urged the Chairmen to maintain mutual respect and synergy with traditional rulers, emphasizing that his administration remains focused on equitable development across all 31 local government areas.

“As Local Government Chairmen, you are my eyes in your areas,” he said. “Galvanize your people, build trust and confidence, and let them feel the impact of governance.”

Party Leaders, Campaign DG Commend ALGON

Also speaking, the APC State Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, congratulated the Chairmen on their one-year anniversary and commended their contributions to grassroots governance and stability.

The Director-General of the Umo Eno Campaign Organization, Ambassador Assam Assam (SAN), lauded the Chairmen’s loyalty and unity, urging them to remain steadfast in supporting the Governor’s development vision.

“You owe the Governor a moral obligation to stand firm and deliver on your mandates,” Ambassador Assam said. “Continue to touch lives and uphold the trust reposed in you.”

The event ended with renewed pledges of collaboration between the state and local government systems, as participants vowed to consolidate the gains of the Eno administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
