    On His One Year in Office as Executive Chairman, Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area

    Chief Edet Isong, Okete Okete Oro, heartily joins the good people of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area in congratulating Rt. Hon. (Chief) Uno Etim Uno, JP, on the completion of one impactful year in office as Executive Chairman of the Council.

    Under his purposeful and people-focused leadership, the Council has recorded numerous achievements that are already transforming lives and communities across the Local Government Area.

    KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

    Infrastructure & Rural Roads

    • Repaired the failed Eyulor–Oruko Road.
    • Graded and opened rural roads to boost agricultural and commercial activities.
    • Constructed key culverts at Okossi–Udung Anwana/Ikpe, Manse Road (Oyubia), and Ikpe community.
    • Reopened the long-abandoned Ubodung–Ward 10 road link.

    Education & Teachers’ Welfare

    • Built and furnished ultra-modern teachers’ quarters at Government Primary School, Oyoku Ibighi, and Government School, Eyulor — with solar-powered water and electricity.
    • Provided office furniture for principal officers and councillors at the Council Secretariat.
    • Initiated plans to engage part-time teachers in core subjects and establish JAMB preparatory centres to support students.

    Power, Lighting & Council Facilities

    • Restored electric power to the Council Secretariat.
    • Installed solar streetlights across the Secretariat and LGA headquarters.
    • Completed staff quarters with 24-hour solar lighting and solar-powered boreholes at Oyoku Ibighi and Eyulor schools.

    Health, Women & Social Empowerment

    • Empowered 60 women through business support grants.
    • Assisted widows of fallen heroes and old soldiers with start-up funds for small-scale businesses.

    Good Governance, Security & Environment

    • Installed CCTV cameras in the Secretariat for enhanced security.
    • Improved sanitation by employing and remunerating village cleaners.
    • Supported the siting of a military barracks in the Oron Zone to enhance regional security.

    Model Projects & Collaborations

    • Constructed model teachers’ quarters with sustainable solar infrastructure.
    • Partnered with the State Government under the ARISE Agenda to advance key projects in health, roads, and education.
    • Reconnected communities through new roads, including the 2.9km Secretariat Road linking Urueoffong, Ibotong, and Eweme.

    Recognition & Awards

    • Honoured by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Urue Offong/Oruko Chapter, with an Award of Excellence in Governance for outstanding leadership and empowerment initiatives.

    SIGNIFICANCE

    These projects reflect a deep commitment to addressing long-standing community needs — from roads and education to energy, empowerment, and security.

    The integration of solar power and boreholes demonstrates a forward-looking, sustainable approach to development, while partnerships under the ARISE Agenda ensure synergy and wider impact.
